Help me out here folks ... I'm really struggling with the news.  We got some numbers this morning saying that the economy is jamming on durable goods ... producing a lot more than anyone expected. So my question is, "Is good news good (read bullish) for the equities or bad (read bearish)?"

If the economy is stronger than we expected then will the Fed pull the trigger and cut rates. That's why we have been rallying isn't it. Helicopter Ben was going to dump suitcases filled with cash if necessary.

And I'm really wondering about bad news ... will that be good news for the equities? You see, I'm in a real quandary here. Bad news is good news and good news is bad news until bad news becomes bad news and vice versa ... or something like that!

I guess what we had better do is to watch the charts rather than the news caused this news thing is just not comprehensible right now and the charts are still telling us that we have fewer and fewer buyers while prices are going up. That just doesn't seem like a good thing does it? Of course, we have lots of folks thinking the same thing which is that old wall of worry argument.

Guess what all this is telling us is not to get to heavy on anything but stay balanced and just take what they give, good or bad news included. Add a little more on the short side as we go up and take a little away on the long side. When we go down, add a little long on the way down and take some off that was short. Now that seems a bit more understandable and a something I can deal with.
